Embroidered Linen

Nothing beats Michigan summers. Growing up, I always thought Michigan was so boring and that the state had nothing to offer. Wrong, wrong, WRONG. My love for Michigan grew tremendously when I went away to school on the West side of the state, along Lake Michigan. Now I dream of settling down there one day. Nothing beats it! Michigan summers are what get me through Michigan winters. And Michigan winters SUCK. I’m headed to Lake MI today and cannot waaaaaait! Hiking, kayaking, beaching, swimming… ahhh πŸ™‚ The best way to beat the heat, in my opinion, is with linen. My

Date Night

I never would’ve thought that Sam and I would have “date nights”. Before we moved out of our parent’s homes, we were together 24/7. Every day was a date! We didn’t need a certain night to go have one. Ever since entering the adult world of medical school, real jobs, getting our own place, and going to bed at 8pm; we now have date nights. The usual is sushi, sake, movie, and homemade popcorn (yes, I am that person that brings a duffel bag full of snacks to the movie theater and suspect that they know nothing). Michigan weather has been unusually

Spring Street Style

Leather is something that I never used to wear. At the time I thought it was too edgy for me. Once I started modeling, I saw more and more looks that I loved that had leather in them. Now, I’m obsessed. But I’m still trying to find my own style with it. It literally took me like an hour to figure out how I wanted to wear this jacket. AN HOUR. I think simplicity is key, for sure. A simple tee, jeans, boom. The leather jacket does all of the work. I added this scarf that I got in Peru

It’s All In the Details

It must be that time of the month for Michigan because it’s personality is all over the board. It’s snowing, it’s raining, it’s warm, it’s cold, it’s sunny, it’s windy – all within 8 hours of each other. And I thought my PMS was bad. But I mean, hey, it makes life more interesting. I always tell Sam “I bring color to your black and white world πŸ˜‰ ” He just gives me “the look” and then we both laugh and kiss and cuddle because we’re perfect. Sorry we’re so in love. NOT! πŸ˜‰ It had warmed up a little bit the

Bundled

I really can’t complain – this has been one mild winter for us Michiganders! But man alive it was f-f-freeeezing the other day. Good thing I was prepared and still got my workout in. I’m not kidding, I am a grump if I don’t get my weekly workouts in. Not to mention the boundless amounts of energy I have. The other day I was really sore from a tough leg day, so I decided to stay home from the gym. When Sam came home that night he was just staring at me until I finally asked why… he looked at

Brownie Sunglasses

My first blogger event! Oh my goodness I’ve been so excited about this. It was hosted by Andrea and Sam at Le Bon Macaron in Grand Rapids and I think I had 4 croissants throughout the day. FOUR CROISSANTS PEOPLE. They’re so buttery, flakey, and so easy to eat and eat and eat and eat. My guilty pleasure for sure. It definitely depends on what mood I am in, but I think an almond croissant (croissants aux amandes) is my favorite. I mean, pain au chocolat is pretty stinking delicious – especially warmed up and served with a hot cup of

Camel Cape

Remember that camel cape that I posted about a little bit ago? Well, I GOT IT and I am in love. I love anything camel colored. This cape is so classic and will be something that will be “in” for years and years and years. I guess you could call it a classic, lol. There are so many different ways you can style it, too! Dresses, skirts, jeans, pants – pretty much whatever you can dream up. Here I have styled it with black pants, a white button down, and a cozy black sweater. Perfect for the beginning of November

Art Prize

It’s October! Goodness, this year has flown! Bring on the Halloween candy πŸ˜‰ Andrea and I had such a fun time venturing into Grand Rapids to see what all of the Art Prize hubbub was about. We indulged on almond milk lattes, pumpkin macarons, art, margarita’s, and delicious vegan ice cream! Sounds pretty perfect, and it was. We went to so many yummy places and ate so much delicious food, I think I remained full for about a week! Some must-see places are Rowster’s Coffee, Le Bon, Furniture City Ice Cream, and Donkey Taqueria. Each place had such a great ambiance

Wax On, Wax Off

All about those waxed jeans, ladies! The other night I went to an event for a boutique called Retail Therapy. The owner, Celeste, is so sweet and puts so much time into her shop. It is always nice to chat and catch up with her. This time in particular because she just returned from shopping in New York for the store. Eeek! She got so many new goodies and I can’t wait to show some of them to y’all. (Sometimes my mother’s southern background comes out in me, carry on). I finally was able to meet Katie (Katie Dean Jewelry) too!

Heart Eyes for Max Azria

Bonjour! Missing Paris these days. Sigh… And yes, I realize. In my previous post, White-Hot, I mentioned that wearing white after Labor Day is a no-no and I would not be doing it, BUT how can you not obsess over this bouncy skirt, killer pumps, and beautiful blouse? BCBG has always been and will always be one of my favorite brands. Maz Azria has such an elegant style that doesn’t keep me bored. Classic with a kick. L-O-V-E.I am obsessed with this outfit because it is comfortable and versatile! Nudes with a pale pink pop. The nude tones make statements. Trust me!A
