Spring Street Style

Leather is something that I never used to wear. At the time I thought it was too edgy for me. Once I started modeling, I saw more and more looks that I loved that had leather in them. Now, I’m obsessed. But I’m still trying to find my own style with it. It literally took me like an hour to figure out how I wanted to wear this jacket. AN HOUR. I think simplicity is key, for sure. A simple tee, jeans, boom. The leather jacket does all of the work. I added this scarf that I got in Peru

Whole 30, Round II

Happy, happy Spring! I was taking a walk earlier today and the sky was so vibrantly blue, the birds were chirping, and as I took a deep breath in, I remembered that today is the first full day of Spring. Hallelujah. Spring typically brings motivated, energetic feelings. The birds start singing, the seeds start sprouting, the horses start frolicking (which is super annoying when you’re trying to catch them haha), and people start getting excited about life again. All of a sudden you see your neighbors walking their dog and you think, “Omg, they DO still live there!” Our hibernating tendencies

Fast-Paced

What a year it has been. That is all I can think about as I sit in my window box, looking out at the rain with a hot cup of coffee in my hand. What a year it has been! As crazy as it sounds, I think it has taken me a full 365 days to wind down from the blissful craziness 2015 brought. I have always been the ‘go-go-go’ type of person, but I’m not sure how I managed to pull 2015 off so well. Wine, Jesus, and family!      As many of you know, I married my

It’s All In the Details

It must be that time of the month for Michigan because it’s personality is all over the board. It’s snowing, it’s raining, it’s warm, it’s cold, it’s sunny, it’s windy – all within 8 hours of each other. And I thought my PMS was bad. But I mean, hey, it makes life more interesting. I always tell Sam “I bring color to your black and white world πŸ˜‰ ” He just gives me “the look” and then we both laugh and kiss and cuddle because we’re perfect. Sorry we’re so in love. NOT! πŸ˜‰ It had warmed up a little bit the

Bundled

I really can’t complain – this has been one mild winter for us Michiganders! But man alive it was f-f-freeeezing the other day. Good thing I was prepared and still got my workout in. I’m not kidding, I am a grump if I don’t get my weekly workouts in. Not to mention the boundless amounts of energy I have. The other day I was really sore from a tough leg day, so I decided to stay home from the gym. When Sam came home that night he was just staring at me until I finally asked why… he looked at

Whole 30 Grocery List

January is almost here! Which means #Whole30January is about to start. Eeeek, I’m so excited! Many people have been asking me what the Whole 30 is, why I’m doing it, what’s the point of it, etc. To be honest, it is similar to the Atkins diet and completely correlates with the Paleo lifestyle. BUT it is only for 30 days. The point of this “diet” is to completely cleanse your system of toxins, heavy metals, candida (too much sugar), and raise your energy levels. It also helps people gain a way better understanding of what eating healthy looks like. Think

Brownie Sunglasses

My first blogger event! Oh my goodness I’ve been so excited about this. It was hosted by Andrea and Sam at Le Bon Macaron in Grand Rapids and I think I had 4 croissants throughout the day. FOUR CROISSANTS PEOPLE. They’re so buttery, flakey, and so easy to eat and eat and eat and eat. My guilty pleasure for sure. It definitely depends on what mood I am in, but I think an almond croissant (croissants aux amandes) is my favorite. I mean, pain au chocolat is pretty stinking delicious – especially warmed up and served with a hot cup of

Exploring Ann Arbor

I hate to say it, but I stepped into enemy territory the other day. And loved it! I love my Spartans, but the Wolverines live in a pretty cool city. I have lived in Michigan my entire life, but never realized just how big Ann Arbor really is! We spent about 6 hours there and we are already making plans to go back because we didn’t get to go everywhere we wanted to. Let me share with you some of my favorite places we discovered today… #1: The Songbird Cafe Our first stop! When we pulled into the parking lot and

7 Tips on How to Stay Healthy This Thanksgiving

I wouldn’t consider the holiday season an ideal time for weightloss. Everyone is baking and cooking and I mean c’mon – people actually buy stretchy pants for Thanksgiving. But I’m going to share with you a few ways I like to go into this season that leaves me feeling happy and confident. First step, DON’T EAT! Haha, just kidding. If anyone ever tells you that, politely tell them off and walk away.  In all seriousness, it can be a really difficult time for some to stay on track, including myself. The wine is flowing, the cookies are rising, the turkey is
